Lawyers hold rally in Rawalpindi.

Rawalpindi: Lawyers belonging to the District Bar Association boycotted courts and staged a protest rally in support of deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry at the main Kutchery Chowk here on Thursday.

Hundreds of lawyers participated in the protest rally and raised slogans against President Asif Ali Zardari. They blocked the main Kutchery Chowk for half an hour. The protesters demanded an immediate reinstatement of all deposed judges, including deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. They said lawyers would continue struggle for the reinstatement of all deposed judges.

Earlier, in a general body meeting, lawyers finalised a plan for welcoming the deposed chief justice on November 3. They said that they would mobilise civil society members to participate in the November 3 rally to show solidarity with all deposed judges, including deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
