ISLAMABAD: Former Supreme Court Bar Association president Justice (r) Tariq Mehmood has said that he rejected the government offer to meet deposed chief justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry secretly.
In an exclusive chat with the agency on Friday, he said the government had offered him a meeting with Justice Iftikhar but he rejected the offer by saying that he would not meet him secretly. “I am state forward man. I do not believe in secret talks,” he said, adding that his secret meeting could effect the ongoing movement of lawyers for the reinstatement of deposed judges who refused to take oath under the Provincial Constitutional Ordinance. He maintained that he was willing to meet Justice Iftikhar but not secretly, adding that the moral of deposed judges was high.
