The Father of Dr. Arif ur Rehman Alvi, the newly elected President of Pakistan, was a dentist to the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru before partition. Dr. Habib ur Rehman Elahi Alvi practiced dentistry in India and migrated to Pakistan in the year of 1947. The Alvi family has letters from Pandit Nehru to Dr. Habib Alvi in their possession.
