ISLAMABAD: The former president and military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf has been presented before the anti-terrorism court amid tight security.
His lawyers are seeking bail for the former president which was cancelled by the Islamabad High Court earlier this week.
Musharraf was brought inside premises of the anti-terrorist court in Islamabad under heavy security. ATC judge Kausar Abbas Zaidi is hearing the case at the ATC which was established on Friday.
Meanwhile, the ex-dictator was given a bulletproof vest and breakfast by his three guards and counsel who visited him at the police headquarters in the morning.
Rejecting the allegations, Musharraf earlier said that he had never put any judge under house arrest, adding that he respects the courts.
The police have recorded the initial statement of Pervez Musharraf that will now be made part of the proceeding.
Pervez Musharraf was shifted to the police headquarters in Islamabad from his farmhouse residence at Chak Shahzad on Friday, hours after the former military ruler surrendered himself to the authorities in the judges’ detention case.
The judge issued an order for a two-day-long transit remand of Musharraf. The order also added clause 780-A pertaining to terrorism in the list of charges against the former army strongman.
