ISLAMABAD: Ali Ahmed Kurd and his whole panel contesting the election to the offices of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Tuesday have registered victory, according to unofficial results.
The election for the seat of President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and other office bearers were held simultaneously in the four provincial capitals, besides Islamabad, Multan, Bahawalpur and Abbottabad.
According to unofficial results, Ali Ahmed Kurd secured 1,052 votes while his rival M Zafar got 505 votes.
Other elected members of the panel include Shoukat Umar Pirzada (secretary), Mohammad Ayaz Khan Sawati (vice president Balochistan), Saeed Akhtar Khan (vice president NWFP), Mian Javaid Jalal (vice president) Punjab), Zulfiqar Khalid Malooka (additional secretary) and Sheikh Ahsanuddin (finance secretary).
A total of 1,724 registered members of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) polled their votes to elect new office bearers of the lawyers’ body.
The official results would be announced on October 31.
